X-ray-Machine-Icon

The X-ray Machine is a diagnosis machine, used only in X-Ray by a doctor to diagnose patients. It is first made available for research in Mitton University.

Description[]

Appearance[]

The main body of the X-ray Machine is white and trapezoidal, with a further rectangular section on top, a domed red light next to it, and a horizontal blue stripe painted towards the base. Large grey edging is featured both around the outline of the machine, and around the large dark-blue window on the front, through which the patient's skeleton can be viewed during diagnosis. This edging extends on both sides at the base, with a conveyer belt running through the body of the machine, via large openings covered with rubber curtains. The shell is emblazoned with a black-on-yellow radiation emblem on both front and back.

The X-ray Machine II adds to this an extra grey ventilated section on the front of the machine, below the window. In addition, behind the conveyer belt on each side is another trapezoidal piece, with a red domed light on the outer aspect, and an orange one besides it.

The X-ray Machine III further adds a large wave-shaped dark grey piece on top, with a lighter grey panel on the outside.

Function[]

The patient will stand at the entrance of the X-ray Machine while the doctor stands at the X-ray Terminal. The doctor will speak into the microphone on the terminal, directing the patient to walk into the machine. Once inside the machine, the doctor will push the red lever on the terminal and the patient's X-ray will be visible on the screen of the machine.

At this point the following may happen:

  • The patient flexes one arm and then another before exiting the machine.
  • The patient attempts to cover their chest and groin for modesty's sake before exiting the machine.
  • The patient proceeds to do hamstring stretches, alternating from one leg to the other twice before leaving the machine.
  • The patient places their hands on their hips and begins to dance before leaving the machine.

The doctor speaks over the microphone and pulls the red lever back to its original position. The patient then leaves the room; with their diagnosis boosted, the patient will either be directed back to the GP, or, if they have passed the diagnosis threshold, sent for treatment.

Maintenance[]

X-ray-Machine-Wreckage

The X-ray Machine loses 5-10% of its maintenance gauge with each use. Once the gauge falls below 50%, a Janitor will automatically be called to repair it. A janitor can be summoned manually by selecting the machine and pressing Call-Janitor-Button.

Should the maintenance gauge fall below 15%, the machine will catch fire. A janitor will need to use an Extinguisher to put this out before the gauge reaches zero; if it is allowed to do so, the machine will explode, leaving wreckage which must be sold and replaced with a new machine before the room can resume functioning.

Upgrades[]

Upgrades are performed by a Janitor with the Mechanics Qualification. The machine will not be accessible while this work is being done, although it can be interrupted and resumed without losing progress.
